INTRODUCTION
The following three power points serve as representative survival menus from group two of EDAC 634 The Adult as a Learner with Dr. Bo Chang as the facilitator.  Our group decided to have some fun with our power point and have a contest between us.  We all did a power point with the plan that we would vote on the one that we liked best and post that one from our group.  While it was fun, the whole thing backfired on us and we were back to the drawing board.  It was almost impossible to choose the one that we liked the best, so we agreed to post three.  In looking back, part of the difficulty points to the supportive nature of our group members and how we each like to reward and support each other.  Due to this fact, the possibility of hurting anyone’s feelings deterred us from making a final choice.
Our menus that follow represent different perspectives concerning our journey throughout the semester, but contain some fun with graphics, wording, and visuals that get our message across to future students.  In discussing the highlights of our power points, survival runs as a theme throughout our message.  We strived to represent that while this course demands hard work and can cause an array of emotions from panic to pride, staying the course and counting on your group members for support will help you prevail in the end.  We also focus on not letting yourself become overwhelmed by the first look at all of the requirements.  We attempt to deliver the most important points for success in this class from mastering the syllabus and online discussion schedule to outline the following main points:

·         Maintain a calendar or planner of assignment and due dates to check frequently.
·         Post your discussions choice early each week so you will have time to comment on classmates and meet deadlines.
·         Work on sharpening your technology skills and understanding blogs.
·         Practice writing and APA skills that you will need.
·         Understand that successful group work requires consistent and continual communication.
·         Manage your time wisely and work on required tasks daily so that you will not fall behind.

We hope that you enjoy our power points. We have had lots of panic and laughs while developing our projects along the way and have made friendships in the process.  We wish tons of luck to future students in finding the strategies that work best for them to find success.

  1. I love the different themes you all presented! I certainly agree with you all! You may feel fear and and overwhelmed at the beginning of the course but you will begin confident as the course continues. Communication is key to completing the group work also.

    Great job ladies!

  3. Your survival memos are awesome! I love the creativity! It should make it easy and catchy for future students to remember and use as a guide. You did a great job of letting future students know that even though it might be overwhelming to see all the assignments and projects and syllabus that with the proper time management and communication it will be okay!

  4. Thank you, Katie. I was so disappointed that my Guns and Roses Welcome to the Jungle would not load. I have had the song in my head since doing my power point. It was a lot of fun.

  6. Your survival memos are wonderful. I am glad you went with posting the three instead of just picking one, since there is a noticeable different approach in all three. I must admit that I originally tried to sing the Welcome to the Jungle PowerPoint only to be a little disappointed that it wasn’t like the I Will Survive memo. There is a lot of good information contained within the memos also.
